My Contribution
Duolbots served as an interesting challenge to me on multiple fronts, all of which I have learned a fountain of lessons from, and I'm glad I took on this project. This first and very daunting task was to make and keep up with a very rigorous schedule of a mountain of sound effects. I still consider myself very inexperienced at this time with sound design, so this was certainly a way for me to get my feet wet in that area in particular. The devs were patient with me as well as gave me very fair and honest criticism, which in hindsight made me become overall better at creating sound effects for games in general, getting used to a different form of production.
The second and arguably larger hurdle for me and the developers to get over was integrating the Wwise Audio Middleware into the Unity project. While the initial steps of the integration were smooth, in a combination of me not being used to Tortoise SVN source control and a variety of Unity issues across all the developers involving wwise, it was quite the headache to debug and get Wwise to work in the editor. With a lot of eyes on the project and professors to help both me and the developers out, we were able to come up with a solution one by one for each of the problems wwise caused, and even worked together to develop an AudioEventManager script in Unity to handle scene changes and posting certain wwise events. Overall, it was a very interesting project to work on and one where I definitely became more comfortable working with wwise.
